Inspired by Harvey Ball (1921 - 2001), a commercial artist who is credited with designing the iconic smiley face that became an international symbol for happiness. In 1963, Ball was commissioned by the State Mutual Life Assurance Company of Worcester (known today as Hanover Insurance) to produce a design that would increase employee morale. The jersey features a custom-designed smiley face patch on the front. The right sleeve is embellished with an artist interpretation of the City seal and the left sleeve is marked with the POW! WOW! Worcester logo. The back of the jersey features either an 18 or 48 which represents the year that Worcester was officially chartered as a City (1848). 100% polyester.
